Chocolate Drop Cookies

From an old cookbook that belonged to my grandmother

I don’t have the cookbook any more, but these remind me of the little brownie cookies.

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 3 squares Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 1 cup Melted Shortening
  • 2 cups Brown Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Chopped Walnuts, Optional

Sift flour, salt and baking powder together and set aside. Melt chocolate and add to melted shortening. Add sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla. Then add sifted ingredients into the wet mixture.

Let stand 10 minutes. Drop from teaspoon onto a greased baking sheet.

Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
