Ha! Ha! Ha! We got off to a roaring start this morning. Just pulled out of the RV Park, its 9:40 am. Better late than never, I guess. We have been in Morehead Park in Tracy for almost a year, off and on, and it feels like home. Who knows, we may be back at Christmas-time, if they have space when we get back.
This is the plan (and I use that term very loosely) for the trip…
Night 1 in Battle Mountain, Nevada. Its a good half way point and we hope to touch base with Roger and Brittney (Larry’s nephew) while we are there. Then onto Idaho Falls, Idaho. Two nights there, mostly because we are such procrastinators, we couldn’t really find anything closer to Jackson, Wyoming. We are going to drive through Teton National Park and stop and see Larry’s cousin, Rich while we are there.
Three days in Helena, Montana. Mostly so I can go on the Gates of the Mountains tour. Larry thinks I’m crazy, but I’ve never been and I want to go and I win. We like to book at least one day a week to catch up on life, groceries, and the like. As much fun as it is being on the road, there is still laundry! Why, oh why, doesn’t someone invent disposable clothes!!!
Twelve days in Whitehall, Montana. This is the place where both Larry and I went to high school, met and got married. Lots of great friends and fabulous memories. And it just happens to be Larry’s 50th class reunion and my40th. Not to mention that Whitehall is a great jumping off point for all things in Southwest Montana. So many places to go, things to do, people to see! Should be a great time!
The entire month of August in Northern Idaho. We have tons of family there, not to mention that Coeur d’Alene is just about the most beautiful place on earth.
After that, the plans are less well-defined. We know we need to be in New York in October. We are meeting my brother Jim and his beautiful wife Sandy and going on a cruise! Then spending the fall (through Thanksgiving) in Florida with them. We will be home for Christmas and my beautiful Alana Jean’s birthday! That will wrap 2016.
2017 is yet to be determined, but we are leaning to either Alaska (if we can figure out how to get our 42 foot trailer up there) or a swing through the south. I have a need to go to Waco, Texas to see Magnolia Farms (who doesn’t love Chip and Joanna Gaines?). Hamilton, Missouri (home of the Missouri Star Quilt Company), because I can’t pass up a town that has 13 (yes, THIRTEEN) quilt shops. Pawhuska, Oklahoma to see what the Pioneer Woman is up to there. And if he’s really nice, I might let Larry pick a stop or two as well.
