Days 18 – 21 ~ Still in Haines, Alaska

Not in Destruction Bay, not in Tok, still in Haines, Alaska

There are much worse places to be stuck in Haines, Alaska. The RV park was within walking distance of most of town. We walked to the grocery store and to the local consignment shop. If nothing else, we had to have our Diet Coke.

We had hoped that the parts would be put on a plane and flown in to arrive Thursday afternoon. But no. They did not get shipped at all on Thursday. They got shipped from Seattle on Friday, but by boat, no air mail. The shop was great though. They pulled and prepped everything, so when the parts did arrive, it would be quick.

We got the call about 10 am on Monday morning. The truck was done, well all except the brake shoes that Larry didn’t finish putting on because he didn’t have all the right tools and he was in an RV parking lot in Dawson Creek, BC. In Canada. On Canada Day.

But the shop was so very kind and finished that up too. We were on the road by 12:30 pm!

Finally, onto Destruction Bay!
