Taco Seasoning

From the Everyday Cheapskate

  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix ingredients and store in an airtight container in a dark, cool place. This yields about 7 teaspoons of mix, which is equal to one 1.25-ounce packet of the commercial product. Recipe multiples well and stores equally well.

To use

Brown one pound ground beef over medium-high heat. Drain excess fat. Add the Taco Seasoning Mix and 2/3 cup water. Reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Makes filling for 8 to 10 tacos.
