Day 30 ~ Paint A Scarf Alaska

This is #5 of things to do in Anchorage, according to TripAdvisor.

This was so fun! The artist and her husband host these classes in their cabin in Anchorage. Beautiful property, by the way.

First, there is a video and the artist demonstrates nine different designs you can paint in an hour or less. It takes more time for the scarves to dry than to paint them. There are three difficulty levels. Of course I chickened out and did the easiest ones. I feel like I would need to practice on paper before I attempted to paint on silk. Still way fun! And the best part… they go to Phoenix and offer sessions at bars, festivals and like in the winter. I may grab some friends and do it again!

These are my two scarves right after I finished painting. They were still pretty wet.

These are after they dried and I set the paint with an iron.

This is another picture of the creek behind the cabin. The artist said that if you could stand in the creek for one full minute, your second scarf would be free. Several people tried, no one succeeded. I didn’t try.
