B.O. Deo(dorant)

From Our Oily House

This is my new favorite recipe! It’s a liquid, in a spray bottle. It’s a little, well, wet. It’s not anti-perspirant. But it works. Horses still sweat, men still perspire, and women still glow.

I was using a solid deodorant with bentonite clay, arrowroot powder, coconut oil and beeswax. It worked, but I was frustrated because the consistency was different in every batch. One batch was too crumbly, the next too wet. I suspect it has something to do with humidity. This option is so much better.

The post where I found the recipe said that if your body was low on magnesium, the concoction would sting when applied and that stinging would happen at every application for about a week. It did. Sting. It did. Last for a week. The good news is that I haven’t had any issues since. My SIL tried it, and she didn’t experience any discomfort, but she was already taking a magnesium supplement, so I guess it’s true.

  • 3 Tablespoons of Witch Hazel
  • 2 teaspoons of Magnesium Oil
  • 15 drops Essential Oil (Tea Tree, Thieves or the like, Lavender, Orange, whatever floats your boat)

Using a funnel, add witch hazel and magnesium oil to a glass spray bottle. Add in essential oils of choice. Put on the bottle cap and shake well. Makes a scant two ounces.

Regarding the essential oils that I use. I almost always use something like Thieves for its antibacterial properties. Then I add something to make it smell good. My current favorite is Rocky Mountain Oil’s Citrus Blend.
