This recipe was given to me by my good friend, Angela. I can’t say that I have done more than a cursory Google search on any of the ingredients. I know next to nothing about this topic. All I know is that it works.
I like to drink it hot, in the evening after dinner. Its pretty concentrated, so I mix one half cup of the tea with one half cup of water. I heat it up in the microwave and add about a teaspoon of local honey. I think its tasty. Bonus: It helps keep down the desire to snack after dinner.
I also double or triple the recipe, mostly because I’m lazy.
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger (I have used fresh grated and I have used the kind in the tube with equal success)
- 1 tablespoon grated turmeric (I have used dried as well, but the tea tends to be a little gritty. It’s so fine, it’s hard to strain it out.)
- 2 lemons, juiced (save the peels)
- 3 cups of water
Put all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil. Yes, the lemon peels as well as the juice. Reduce the heat to a simmer.
Simmer 5-10 minutes.
Strain and refrigerate.
