Three days, four nights…
Seward was our first peek at coastal Alaska. The eagles are more plentiful. The scenery is changing. Its getting more, well, coastal. A lot of it reminds me of the Mendocino / Ft. Bragg area of California.
We went with several other Fantasy couples on a cruise through the Kenai Fjords. The cruise included a stop on Fox Island for a lunch of salmon (of course) and prime rib. It was yummy. We saw some beautiful scenery and a lot of wildlife, including one frisky humpback whale.
We also hiked to Exit Glacier, well as close as you can get anyway. They don’t really let you walk on it or anything. The ranger who gave us the tour was very knowledgeable, right up until she started talking about global warming. She lost me after that. This marker shows where the edge of the glacier was in 1917. They calculate this by the age of the trees.
