Salmon and glaciers and bears, oh my!
There were a few folks on the trip who were grumbling about stopping in Stewart. It is a small detour off the road home, and we are all anxious for the trip to finish and to be on our way. We have had a few couples drop out already, either due to concerns about the fire, health issues or the like. We decided to stick it out to the end, and we are glad we did.
This is my favorite RV park, so far. Nicely laid out, a lot of trees. Some place where you really feel like you are camping. Wild raspberry buses mingled in with both red and white dogwood. Very pretty. Lots of bugs, though.
I have so many pictures of the flora, I’m going to put together a picture gallery and post it separately.
As far as I can tell, Stewart’s claim to fame is a place where salmon come to spawn and the bears feast. They have large viewing platforms set up where you can (if you have the patience of God), wait for bears to come for their breakfast, lunch or dinner. We went, paid our $5 and waited. Some people swear they saw a bear peek out, then amble away. I didn’t see anything, well I didn’t see any bears.
But we did see a LOT of salmon. I mean a LOT. And more beautiful country.
